Episode 18 - Book Review of Shadows: Magical Destinations of the Northeast

00:0000:00

Thanks for tuning in to the first stand-alone Book Review of Shadows episode of 2017. I announced the new format in my previous episode, so if you're confused about this.... the truth IS out there.

Today I'm reviewing Magical Destinations of the Northeast: Sacred Sites, Occult Oddities, and Magical Monuments by The Wandering Witch, Natalie Zaman.

This book is the perfect combination of Travel Guide and Grimoire, and for this reason it recieved 5 crystal balls out of 5! To find out why you can read my full review on my blog here or just listen to the episode, jeeze.

The next full-length episode of The Fat Feminist Witch will be released around imbolc, so until then be sure to find me on social media or check the blog for new episodes!

Episode 17: Goodbye, 2016! Hello, Understanding!

00:0000:00

Thank you for tuning in to this special New Year's Eve episode of The Fat Feminist Witch Podcast, the show where I do a little ranting, raving and wand-waving.

Today I'm waving my wand in a disapproving tone at ableism in the metaphysical community, and 2016 in general. I talk about "chronic positivity" and it's negative impact on mental illness, and how the stigma of actually feeling anything less than positive is keeping sick people sicker. I also correct some of the mistakes I've made this year, and pledge to move into 2017 with more understanding.

I also review the Coloring Book of Shadows, a magically minded coloring book y'all can use to practice mindfulness in 2017 and you can read the full review on the blog: here.

The apps for meditation and mindfulness are all iPhone apps, sorry android users!, but you can find them here:

Pacifica, which has a nice beach scene on the main screen, syncs with Apple Health, features free meditations and ones you can buy, and offers journaling, goal setting, and habit forming promps. Really pretty, and I love the "soundscapes".

Zen has guided meditations, lots of cool sounds and asmr and stuff like that, it records your mood and also syncs with apple health. This one has a little less meditations for free, but it also have nice inspirational quotes and stuff.

Wildflowers was my favourite during the one week trial of a premium version, as it has the BEST guided meditations. It also logs your heart rate and logs your mood. I loved the meditations, but the free version has way less and it neither sync with apple health.

I don't talk about any of the celebrities who've died this year, because that sucks and I don't like it but RIP all you beautiful angels.

it's all uphill from here, folks! 2017 awaits!

Episode 13 - Hexing Rapists, Movie Magic, Sketchy Solstice!

00:0000:00

Thank you for tuning in to The Fat Feminist Witch Podcast! Today I'm talking about the recent mass hexing of Brock Turner and I have a message for all of the jerks who decided to publicly shame the sexual assault survivors who felt empowered by hexing a rapist.

I also introduce a new segment called SILVER SCREEN SPELLCRAFT in which I review the magic and spells in witchy movies and tv and how to do those spells in real life. I start with iconic teen witch cult classic THE CRAFT, which came out 20 years ago now (barf).

Your SKETCHY HERB & MAGIC ROCK this episode are for the summer solstice!

Do you actually live under a rock and missed the mass hex of Brock Turner? Check out this article from The Wild Hunt that originally tipped me off, as well as This Daily Dot Article and This Flare Magazine Article that came out afterwards - both of which feature me in the defining moment of my whole life haha.

Episode 12 - Not Every Goddess Has a Sacred Womb

00:0000:00

Hello again, and thanks for tuning in to The Fat Feminist Witch podcast.
Today I'm talking about motherhood and it's position as some sort of archaic status symbol for women within paganism and I fully attack the Triple Goddess paradigm and talk about how it's doing just as much harm as it is good.

I talk about my latest review of The Spiritual Feminist, but due to it's low rating I don't really re-review it. You can read my review on the blog right here.

I also have a new SKETCHY HERB AND MAGIC ROCK for you guys to check out and today's it's Calendula, or Marigold and Chrysocolla!

Episode 11 - The Business of Being Pagan

00:0000:00
Hello again everybody, and thank you for tuning in to The Fat Feminist Witch Podcast. I know it's been a little while since the last episode, but once you hear my new intro music, wacky sound effects and a solid 10 minutes of me begging for money you'll understand why.

After I finish telling you how badly I want you to consider becoming a contributor to the podcast either through my Podbean Crowdfunding page, by shopping at any of my affiliates, or by buying my cool stuff from my Etsy Store- we talk about prosperity and pagan business.

The episode focuses on things I've learned about the metaphysical store business, what to do and avoid if you open your own, and types of stores to absolutely avoid giving your hard-earned money to. While doing this I review Drawing the Three of Coins by Terri Paajanen (for full review, see the blog) which I gave 🔮🔮🔮🔮/5!

I also introduce a new segment to the show called SKETCHY HERBS AND MAGIC ROCKS for all of you herb and crystal enthusiasts out there.

(NOT AVAILABLE) Bad Ass Old Witches and Magickal Fashionistas

00:0000:00

Hello again and thank you for tuning in to The Fat Feminist Witch Podcast, the show where I do a little ranting, raving, and wand-waving. I am your host, Paige, The Fat Feminist Witch and this is the second time I recorded this episode today because the first time my thumb slipped and deleted the first recording.
I know.
ANYWAYS today I'm talking about my recent challenge to live my life according to the daily advice Laurie Cabot posts to her twitter account, and how it affected me and my magic. I talk about the value in working magic into your daily dress and recommend not one, but 3 books by Ellen Dugan. Even I'm rolling my eyes. You can of course find the full play by play with annoyingly adorable photographs of me on my wordpress blog at http://thefatfeministwitch.wordpress.com

In the newest Book Review of Sahdows segment I review the second book in Ellen Dugan's Legacy of Magick series - Secret of The Rose (hint: I loved it). You get to hear how high-pitched my voice gets when I talk about sexy stuff and how much I love really badass old lady witches. (hint: it's a lot.)

So sit back and relax and then please feel free to bother me all over the internet. I'm on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and I have an email address if you live in 2004.

Episode 9 - B.R.O.S and Cons with Special Guest Jose C.

00:0000:00

The podcast where we do a little ranting, raving, and wand-waving! We’ll be examining witchcraft and paganism from a modern, fat, feminist perspective; with a cauldron full of sass.

Today I’ve got a new Book Review of Shadows in which I review Pagan Planet: Being, Believing and Belonging in the 21st Century, published by Moon Books.

I also talk about my wonderful experience at ConVocation2016 in Michigan, the big pagan convention of the Midwest. I met Ellen Dugan, y’all!

My special co-host tonight is my good friend Jose… Cuervo. And  I used the new Podbean app, which I like but doesn’t let me edit! Sooo…. This should be fun.

Episode 8 - Readin’ and Weedin’

00:0000:00

After the very long and well researched previous episode of the podcast, I decided to take it a little easy and talk about some current events here in Windsor.
First I review a new book  - Legacy of Magick by Ellen Dugan. Ms. Dugan is an incredibly popular pagan non-fiction author and it shines through in her fun, romantic and witchy fiction series.
Today Windsor's Higher Limits vapour lounge was featured in an article for high times, which was then featured in an article in the Windsor Star about that article. How cool is that? It's another episode about Cannabis today, so sit back and enjoy.

The music you can, far too faintly, hear in the background is from the album Live at Monty Hall with Jeff Sarge of Reggae Schoolroom

Episode 7- Godless Heathens!

00:0000:00

Today we're talking about secular witchcraft and how not to get discouraged by your lack of "Faith".
Most resources and books that deal with witchcraft approach it from a religious standpoint, but what if you don't really think you're talking to the ancient god of thunder? Are you a failure of a witch? I certainly don't think so.

The podcast will now be published every other week, to avoid burnout and to allow me to write better blog posts - which you can find on my new website at http://thefatfeministwitch.wordpress.com!

I also introduce a new regular feature called BOOK REVIEW OF SHADOWS where I review a new fiction or non-fiction book on witchcraft and magic.

The music and outdoorsy sounds you hear in the background are from THIS mix on ambient-mixer.com

Episode 6 - Going Analogue for Mercury Retrograde!

00:0000:00
The Fat Feminist Witch is back! I'm a year older, a bit fatter (I love turkey!) and my house is covered in confetti. Happy 2016!

fb8a35_8361697f761a4579a32bf11dbd054411.

Mercury Retrograde is back! Boo! Hiss!
Today we talk about things you can do for the next 3 weeks that are actually improved by Mercury Retrograde energy! Go analogue, slow down, take extra time to be prepared and don't sweat the small stuff.

I'm also introducing a fun new project we can all do during mercury retrograde to keep us sane and come out of of MRX with something beautiful. Read my newest blog post here to learn more about my #ANALOGUE4MRX contest and go here to sign up!

All of the fun cozy sounds you hear in the background are of the Hufflepuff Commonroom! How cool is that? You can find that mix here on Ambient-mixer.com, and I definitely recommend checking out all of the other Harry Potter mixes they have there.

Episode 5 - The Wiccan History Lesson

00:0000:00

2967720344_b252659fe0.jpg

Today I discuss witchcraft's more modern history - specifically Wicca's origins - and the disturbing trend of perpetuating wiccan mythology as real history!

From the mythology of The Burning Times, to Gerald Gardner and the invention of Wicca, to Doreen Valiente's cateye glasses, the Lady Liberty League, Wiccan Prisoners, Silver Ravenwolf, and even The Craft, we're exploring the real history of Witchcraft in the 20th century.

Episode 4 - My Big Fat New Year’s Resolutions!

00:0000:00

Inspired by both Sarai Walker's new novel DIETLAND and the blog post 7 Fierce Fat Girl Resolutions by Chrystal Bougon on Curvy Girl Lingerie I am making fat positive resolutions for 2016! In addition to continuing my struggle to mourn and let go of the skinny version of myself I've always held on to, I'm going to wear a very special dress, ask for a seat belt extender on a plane, find a doctor who doesn't suck and even be nicer to myself and others! It's a nondenominational holiday miracle! This episodes features my very special friend, cursing, for the first time ever.

What are you body positive/ fat resolutions for 2016? I want to hear all about how terrible you are!
